Dr Howard Marriage (Director and Chairman)

Howard Marriage has over 3 decades of experience in Life Sciences. He was executive director at Cyclacel Limited for 6 years where he used his expertise in Business Development and Research Management to expand the company and help raise $100M in finance. He also has extensive knowledge of Intellectual Property management having had experience in managing large-scale patent portfolios. Howard’s 13 years at Genzyme Corporation, one of the world’s most successful biotech companies, provides him with some insight into the variety of mechanisms involved in developing a market driven company. Howard is also involved as a consultant on business development and strategic planning with a number of Scottish based life science companies.

Professor Denise Kelly (Director and Chief Scientific Officer)

Denise Kelly is an internationally renowned scientist with over twenty years experience in gut immunology and immune-related disorders. She has work in both the commercial sector as a post doc with Nestle, Lausanne, Switzerland and in academia with the Rowett Research Institute, where she heads the Gut immunology division and is responsible for the scientific output of approximately 16 scientists. She has successfully published in top international journals including Nature Immunology, has won a significant number of competitive grants and is the sole inventor of two patent applications. Her research has lead to global recognition and she has received numerous annual invitations to the US, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Paris, Rome to present her work at a diverse range of venues including scientific meetings, clinical gastroenterological events and to the commercial sector.

Graham BellDr Graham Bell (Business Development Director)

Graham Bell has almost two decades of experience in a variety of companies working in operational and business activities in the drug discovery and development environment. His experience ranges from start-ups to multi-nationals and from 2003-2005 he was Manager for Corporate development at Cyclacel Ltd. Most recently Graham has been involved in Life Science business consultancy to young companies through his role at Biotech Innovation and Future Health Limited and as a Scottish Enterprise Outcome Manager.

Dr Keith Winton (Company Secretary)

Keith Winton was formerly a research chemist at the University of St Andrews, then moved into a role involving the commercialisation of research from the University of Edinburgh. With this experience, Keith progressed into the management of seed and pre-seed funds investing in technologies emerging from a number of the universities and research institutes based in the East of Scotland. One of these, the Genomia Fund, was the first investor in GT Biologics. He is a member of the Boards of, and/or provides business assistance to, a number of the companies supported through the funds he manages.

Dr Alistair Dobbie (Company Financial Advisor)

Alistair Dobbie of Robertson Dobbie, established by Alistair and Liz Dobbie (both Chartered Accountants) in 1990, specialises in the provision of financial advice and services to a number of businesses within West and Central Scotland including Life Science ventures. Alistair provides these skills to GT Biologics. He also has experience in development and financing of young spin-out companies and has established links with venture capitalists.
